January Recap

I can’t believe it’s already February. This is the part of the year when winter starts to feel sad and never-ending. But we had a sunny day last week – most of the snow melted and it was in the 40s – as sad as that sounds, it gave me so much hope. One day, it won’t be freezing, and in less than 50 days, spring will be here.

I was thinking about how this is a really nice time to cozy up, and I’ve been able to focus on work a bit more, too. There’s less (ok, zero) motivation to be outside, so I don’t feel guilty sitting at my desk.

January was actually pretty great. I took the girls to Los Angeles and we spent 2 days at Disney. We had a lot of snow and freezing temps at home. I had 6 partnerships go live and filmed 3 more. January isn’t usually this busy with work, and I feel so fortunate to have had such great partnerships come my way. I had 26 total partnerships last year and am already at 13 for the year. Over half haven’t gone live yet, but I’ve gotten a lot done.

I really want to enjoy summer this year, so I’m trying to devote these months to being especially productive so I can have fun at the pool with the kids.

Oh, and a big update. Thanks to you, we funded THREE YEARS of gold medals for every single child in treatment for cancer at Lurie Children’s hospital. And we did it in a few hours. Pretty incredible, isn’t it?

There was a weird period where I felt a little unsettled with my (local) friendships. I talked about that here. So I reached out to some people I really like and ended up scheduling some dinners, coffees, and lunches. Probably too much too fast, but it felt really nice to connect. So this is me urging you to put effort into the people you are interested in. It’s not always easy, but asking someone on a friend date is a great step. And for what it’s worth, no one said no.

My friend recommended keeping a list of people you want to reach out to, and reaching out to maybe 2 for plans, and not 8. Lesson learned. I’m even having coffee with someone I met at Tennis last summer.

BTW - (I am really all over the place here) I saved all your breast reduction questions and do plan on answering them soon! I want to write something on weight loss, too, since I am down 20 lbs since my reduction. I still need to firm up a bit, so I should probably start working out again. Things just got so busy with work and the kids, and the drop-offs, pick-ups, classes, etc.

And some personal updates below!
