Weekend Reading, 9.29
What I wore this week, the projects I worked on, what I'm watching, my new medication, top sellers and my first subscriber giveaway recipient!
We had a slow day at home today. Margot wasn’t feeling well so we canceled our plans and opted for a movie day on the couch. My husband had an open house so our au pair offered to take my youngest for a few hours so I could focus on the girls. I got some Halloween decor up and spent the day at home with the kids. You can see how I hung the floating candles and bats here.
It was a nice, slow day. I’ve been exhausted but finally started Nobody Wants This and love it.
Oh, and our swivel chairs are on sale.
And I’ll just get right to it - Lauren Brendel is my first subscriber to receive a monthly giveaway. I’m going to mail it off this Monday!
This week was really productive, but most of the work I usually do suffered. I worked on my partnership with Cricut which I turned into this 3 day project (by choice - it was a HUGE project), and it felt like I neglected everything else. But I did something really special that goes live Monday and I’m one of those Cricut-loving people now. I submitted all the content for another partnership that goes live Tuesday, and have another one due Wednesday.
It all happened so fast, and as a result, I only published one blog post this week. But it’s a great post on the jewelry I wear every day. And Dorsey sent me this ring – I’ll share it in stories soon. It’s gorgeous.
I was terrible about going to bed before midnight and didn’t really read. Like I said, it was just an off week, but not a bad one! I saw my private practice doctor and we made some more changes. She gave me an estrogen patch to use throughout my cycle when needed, and I am finally on medication for ADHD. We talked about my recent labs and I was so close to just switching to my general practitioner, but feel like I might need Dr. Johnson for a little longer.
This isn’t my first time on meds for ADHD but I’ve been off it since my late teens. It’s never been “easy” for me, but it’s felt a lot harder lately. I’m already on Lexapro for anxiety and have been since my daughter’s cancer diagnosis, and hesitated to go on “more” meds, but I’m going to test it and we’ll see. I knew I needed it and am a little nervous but mostly hopeful that I can start to feel less all over the place. And while I can’t report back, I want to at least be honest because the least we can do as women is share the things we’re struggling with. Right? Right.
What I Wore
Almost everything I wore is linked in my Shopmy, except my sweatsuit, which is linked here. The days I worked on Cricut, I wore my favorite leggings and either this tee or a Varley sweatshirt.
Something really important to me. I hope you’ll read it.
And because September is childhood cancer awareness month, I have to at least try to ask this community for your help. Margot has now been off-treatment as long as she was on. For 798 days, exactly. Fundraising was so different when she was a patient. People were understandably a bit more eager to help, and we all have expenses and our own causes. But here’s the thing. More than 45 kids are diagnosed with cancer every single day, and the research is extremely underfunded. So if you could be so kind as to make a small donation – even the cost of tomorrow’s coffee order (which I know might not sound like much, but it is!) – we could make a really big difference. If half of you donated $5, we would raise $25,000.
Recent Finds and Purchases
Varley’s new collection is so good.
These sneakers are so cute and comfortable.
I restocked my Primally Pure deodorant, and am trying the vanilla this time. I’ve been using it for almost 10 years – it works!
I restocked my foundation, too. I still use Merit, but really like this as a base to even skin tone so I don’t have to use too much of a foundation stick, so it lasts for a long time. I just love how it goes on.
And speaking of Merit, they finally came out with a brow pencil so I ordered it. I restocked my highlighting balm and the flush balm in Beverly Hills.
Jack’s costume came and I couldn’t love it more. And Kate chose the most darling light-up costume.
This is back in stock so I snagged it before it sells out again.
Jack is obsessed (and I do not use that word lightly) with “What’s In My House?” so I bought the truck and farm versions of that book because it’s the only book he wants to read right now. They’re all on sale, too!
I bought a few organization essentials.
I thought these pumpkins were really cute and ordered the smallest size.
September Top Sellers
Almost everything in my Taylor Swift birthday party blog post. I sold at least 25-30 of most of the items in the post.
Pumpkin decorating and Halloween garland kit
My cuffed denim sold out in the color that I’ve been wearing, but this is in stock in most sizes.
Thank you, Danielle!! I’m so excited! 💕
