The Midlife Reset
I ended my thirties by walking away from a toxic partnership, finding real freedom, taking control of my health, and becoming a mom again.
This wouldn’t be the first time I hit reset on my life. At 27, I packed my things and moved across the country with my rescue dog, Buddy. It was a total life reset. I ended an almost decade-long relationship, started and grew a new business, found happiness in a new city, married a guy I met on Tinder, traveled, and had my first baby. Things probably looked good from the outside, but I wasn’t happy.
I ignored the warning signs for a long time. I kept telling myself that things would get better or that I was just in a busy season. I got used to feeling exhausted, frustrated, resentful, and stuck. I poured my energy into something that wasn’t aligned with the person I was becoming.
Eventually, I hit a breaking point. Something had to change, so I did the hardest and best thing I could do: I left. I walked away from the business, sold my half, and shut the door on a partnership that had been holding me back for years. It was terrifying and freeing, too.
With space to breathe, I rebuilt my work life on my own terms. I made more money — not because I was hustling harder, but because I was finally aligned with the work I was meant to be doing.
And the biggest surprise of all? I had another baby — at 40.
