Finally Understanding ADHD in my 40s
A personal reflection on ADHD, decision fatigue, and slowing down
I have known about my ADHD since childhood, but at 43, I am just starting to understand the way it influences how I move throughout the day. Task switching happens without me even realizing what’s going on, and before I know it, I’ve taken everything out of our entry closet. My brain turns projects that weren’t on my radar into urgent tasks that come before everything else. I will either hyperfocus or completely avoid tasks that I don’t want to do. I can’t alway control where my focus is going to be, but I have found more clarity over the last few months.
Today, I’d like to share more about the ways ADHD has impacted me. The way it changes the way I think and move throughout my day. I’ll also share the simple question my therapist asked me to ask myself whenever I do anything, and how it’s already made a difference.
