Most of us have at least one almost lifelong friendship – a friend we’ve known for as long as we can remember. Decades of history.
Sometimes, those friendships grow, and it’s such a beautiful thing when they do. But other times, the friendship only exists because you met this person before you grew up, and you grew up to be two people who would never choose each other.
I have this one friend from high school who I’d choose over and over and over again. I love everything about her. We don’t talk as often as I wish we did because life, work, and kids. She’s planning to come visit with her two girls this year and I just love her so much. I have another friend I met in my early 20s who has changed so much since we met, and I love her even more now than I did then. We grew together and became even more close. I feel so connected to her.
These are not the friends I’m talking about today.
And then there’s the friend I was meant to lose touch with but dragged things on with until there was nothing left.
Given the personal nature of this post, I’m saving this one for my paid subscribers.
