Hi! Happy weekend. It’s been a big week! We listed our house privately, and Conor started showing our home to potential buyers. I’m going out with my friend Laura tonight, and am not sure what the plan is for tomorrow. I thought it might be nice for me to have a few hours to myself in the morning. Then once I’m feeling refreshed, we’ll all do something together. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

In today’s newsletter, I’m going to recap the last week, share some recent finds, sales, design things I can’t stop thinking about, and a few work updates, too.

I saw The Devil Wears Prada with Jackie last weekend and we both really enjoyed it. There’s one story line that they could have explained a little more, but I loved seeing everyone together again.

We caught up on Your Friends and Neighbors and Margo’s Got Money Troubles, although I’ve been a little distracted, trying to catch up on my computer at night since we’ve had so much cleaning and organizing to do.

This is probably something no one cares about, but it is a very big deal for me. The cats do not like Dottie. It’s been about three months, and they usually avoid her entirely, but have started to want to check her out a little bit. Poppy even let Dottie sniff her, although she did hiss at her. 😂 But last night, Dottie was laying next to me in bed, and poppy climbed up on top of me, started purring, and fell asleep. This is very big, and is giving me hope.

I shared more about our move this week, answered your questions about where we’re going and what comes next, and I somehow made it to Substack’s #1 rising publication in fashion and beauty. I am so excited for our next home, and will share all the behind-the-scenes house stuff in real time with my paid subscribers. If interiors are your thing, I think you’ll like it here. I’ll still post about life, motherhood, fashion, anxiety, and all the other things I usually post about, too.

Thoughts on Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and I want to send love to anyone who might be struggling right now. Whether the day feels joyful, complicated, lonely, painful, or somewhere in between, I hope you’re gentle with yourself this weekend.

Mother’s Day used to be really hard for me, and honestly, that was true until just a few years ago. I went no contact with my mom around my 39th birthday, and letting go of the idea of the mother I wish I had has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

Becoming a mom has been both healing and heartbreaking. It’s shown me the kind of love I’ll never have from my own mother, but it’s also given me so much clarity, peace, and gratitude. I’ve been able to give my kids the mother they each need, and it’s such a gift to be able to be that person for them. After years of therapy and a lot of work, I’m in a really good place now. Of course I wish things were different with my mom, but I’ve accepted what is, and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to be a mom to my three kids.

I’m sharing this because I know this day can feel complicated for so many of us, and social media has a way of making it seem like everyone has a perfect relationship with their mother. If this weekend feels hard for you in any way, you’re not alone.

Links, Sales, and Recent Finds

Here are this week’s top sellers. My shopbop hearts are up to date, too.

I shared links to all of my ADHD hobbies.

Dottie got a new crate, and it’s far less offensive than the one our boarding place let us borrow. It was time for us to purchase one, and this bed (we have the large) fit inside perfectly. She seems really happy in there.

EBY has a new wireless t-shirt bra! I’ve been wearing their wireless bras for years.

My canvas “gardening hat” (it isn’t actually a gardening hat, but I wore it to the nursery with my friend.

I’ve been doing this puzzle and have a love-hate relationship with it. It’s so pretty and so hard!

Helix is having a big sale! We have this Helix mattress in our bedroom and just got this one for our oldest for her new room.

Dorsey launched this new floating eternity necklace. Isn’t it beautiful?

The Kitchen Walk

My MIL’s house was part of the Hinsdale Kitchen Walk. I’ve never done the kitchen walk, but we went to grandma’s for dinner, and I took a few photos to share with you.

Save the Date! I’m Hosting a Trunk Show on June 2

If you’re local, I’m hosting a trunk show on June 2 from 12-4PM featuring Danrie’s curated collections, and a portion of all sales will support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. If you’re new here, I joined ALSF’s advisory board after my daughter finished cancer treatment. I vowed to continue to raise awareness and funds for the almost 50 children diagnosed with cancer every single day.
